Biography
Karin Kemper is a Senior Advisor in international development with more than 25 years of experience advancing global solutions at the intersection of nature, climate, and sustainable development. She previously served as Global Director for Environment, Natural Resources and the Blue Economy at the World Bank, where she led the institution’s global practice and oversaw a portfolio exceeding US$12 billion in investments, analytical work, and partnerships supporting environmental sustainability.
Her work focuses on strengthening the economic and financial foundations for protecting nature and scaling solutions that address biodiversity loss and climate change. She advises international initiatives working to mobilize large-scale finance for nature, biodiversity, and climate adaptation, and contributes to advancing approaches for scaling sustainable development solutions through her role as Senior Advisor to the Scaling Community of Practice, where she also co-chairs the Climate Change Working Group.
Karin serves on the Board of IUCN US Fund and contributes to global discussions on biodiversity finance and environmental governance. She is also a member of the Expert Evaluation Committee for the French Treasury’s sovereign Green Bond program.
